Correcting Mistakes
- One 2-hour Session: Learn to correct and identify
twisted stitches, dropped stitches, incomplete stitches, avoid
creating an extra stitch at the edge of a row, and un-knit one
stitch at a time or several rows.
This class is hands on - you will be making and then
correcting mistakes.
The Knitting Doctor is in! If you're having problems with a knitting or a crochet project
and need some help, the Doctor (Vic England) will be available
through the shop. There is a fee based on $20/hour. This fee is
negotiable depending on the help needed. Don't miss this
opportunity to get those projects completed! Call to
arrange a time.
Beginning Knitting
- Two 1½-hour Sessions: Conquer the basics in these two sessions
where you will learn the long-tail cast on (CO), knit (K)
stitch, purl (P) stitch, yarn over (YO), a knit decrease
(K2tog), and how to bind off (BO).
You will go home
practicing your knit stitch while making your first scarf.
Material required: Worsted weight yarn and appropriate
needles for your first knitted scarf project.
Blocking Demonstration
- One 1-hour Session: Learn the why, what and how to
properly block knitted and crocheted garments. Deb will
demonstrate both wet and steam blocking and will show knitted
items before and after blocking. See what a difference
blocking can make to your handmade treasures!
Beginning
Socks on Two Circular Needles
- Three 1-1/2 hour
Sessions:
Using the same patterns as in the Beginning Socks
(Double-pointed needles) class, you will learn to make socks
using two circular needles. For more information, see
class description for Beginning Socks (Dbl-pt socks).
Materials needed:
Patterns (choose one): Knitting Pure & Simple, Beginner
Socks (Woman), Easy Children's Socks or Men's Heavy Weight
Boot Sock. Yarn: Amount and weight specified in
pattern to achieve gauge. Needles: 1- 16" circular
and 1-24" circular needle in size specified in pattern to
achieve gauge and locking stitch markers.
Lunch Hour Knit-a-Long
with Karen - The first project will be a Knitting
Pure and Simple top down Cardigan perfect for spring and summer.
Stop by to pick out your yarn, sign up and pay your $5. The
pattern will be free with purchase of yarn. Join us on the days you can for guidance, fiber time
and fun. Plus, have your project ready to wear for this

Mari's Class
Beyond the Basics Series
- Expand your knitting knowledge, one technique at a time, sign
up for all of the sessions or just ones that you need. All
sessions will be held on Mondays nights from 6pm to 8pm.
Knitting in the Round - You've knitted the scarf, now
let me show you how to knit a hat in the round to match.
Not interested in knitting a hat? The same method is used
in knitting socks, mittens, gloves, or sleeves. This class
is for anyone who wants to move beyond flat knitting.
Please bring size US 7 - 16" circular needle, Size 7 double
pointed needles and worsted weight yarn. Materials are
available for purchase at Woolen Treasures.
Correcting Mistakes - This is for every knitter who has
cast on and started knitting with the tail. Or knit the scarf
all the way down only to discover you have a dropped stitch.
This class will give you the confidence you need to fix those
mistakes with ease. Please bring a 4" swatch in light
color yarn still on the needles (not bound off) to class
Cables Untangled - Learn the basics for making beautiful
cables and learn to read those cable patterns like a pro.
You will never fear cables again. Please bring a 4" swatch
on needles and a cable needle available from Woolen Treasures.
Two Color Knitting - How did they do that? This
two hour class will explain the two color knitting method using
two hand knitting to avoid long floats and pucker free fair
isle. Please cast on 96 stitches on a circular needle and
join in the round. Knit around for 10 rows, leave on
needle and bring to class along with main color yarn and
contrasting color ball of yarn.
Finishing - You made it and you have no idea how to sew
it up. Never fear, Mari is here. With this class we
will teach you how to seam your new garment with a professional
finished look. Materials required to be posted later.
Intro to Fair Isle
- Two 2 hour Sessions:
This class will introduce you to the art of fair isle knitting.
The instructor will be demonstrating the two color technique as
well as reading fair isle charts and graphs. Then it's your
turn. We will supply an assortment of different patterns to
choose from, from mittens and hats to hand bags with your
worsted weight yarn and either circular or double pointed
needles. We will learn how to turn under the hem, increasing and
decreasing in pattern and finishing our projects. This is a
great class to take if you plan on taking Vicky England's fair
isle baby sweater class.
Super Fast
Mitten Workshop -
One 3 hour Sessions:
Have you thought about knitting mittens or
wanted to learn to knit on double pointed
needles but been a bit intimidated by the idea?
Then this mitten workshop is for you.
Well use super bulky yarn and large double
pointed needles to knit up quick, thick,
wonderful mittens, in just a few hours.
Materials:
Super bulky yarn of your choice, such as Brown
Sheep Burly Spun. Size 11 double pointed
needles. Tapestry needle with a large eye.
Pattern will be supplied by instructor.
Michelle's Classes
Basic Top
Down Sweater - Three 1-1/2 hour Sessions
Learn how to convert any pattern
to a Seamless Top-Down or use my Basic Top-Down formula to
create a basic top that fits.
You will learn the basic
concepts of gauge, design, and pattern writing to create
your own top. Week one will focus on basic sweater design
elements, choosing yarn and needle size to get gauge,
different increase stitches, and each individuals choice
for their top. Week 2 will focus on problems and issues
from week 1 as well as dividing for sleeves. Week 3 will
focus on sleeves and finishing your sweater.
Materials Needed:
1st Class - Bring a picture of a concept
idea of what you want for your sweater if you have one. You
can choose your yarn ahead of time or buy it the day of the
class, but please have an idea of colors and type of yarn
(washable vs. hand wash, wool, cotton, alpaca, silk, etc.).
If you have already chosen your yarn, please knit a swatch
before the first class. Bring a range of needles and stitch
markers and a journal or notebook to write in.
2nd 3rd Classes Yarn of choice, stitch
markers, needles, stitch holders, and your knitting journal.
Basic
Summer Top Creation - Beginners
Using the Ragland Style, you can create almost any designed
top you desire with any yarn. Learn the basics of measuring
gauge, Ragland Style and the techniques needed to design a
great summer top for you! Michelle will have pieces
available in different stages to show you the techniques.
Bring a yarn of choice along with 5 stitch markers and
appropriate size needles to get started on your top that
day.
Create Your Own
Sweater
- Four 1 1/2-hour Sessions
Have you ever seen a
picture in a magazine of a fabulous sweater and wish you
could make it? Now you can. Bring your photos or your
own concept ideas to create your own sweater. Michelle

Mitts - 2 sessions
Choose 1 of 3 different patterns ( Mom's Cabled Mitts,
Fetching, or Evangeline) that vary in complexity to
create these fashionable and practical fingerless mitts.
Whether you are new to cables or an old pro, this
project appeals to everyone as a quick knit gift or
something for yourself. Pattern is free with class.
Please bring supplies listed on your chosen pattern.
Childs Top Down
Cardigan for New School Year - 3 Sessions
Learn your basics
for a top down raglan sleeve cardigan and add a
beautiful knitted piece to your child's wardrobe.
Michelle will step you through the basic construction of
raglan sleeve and best of all there is no seaming.
Easy Stripe Sweater
- 3 Sessions
This sweater is easy and fashionable. Using 1 -2 skeins
of Noro, along with a nice wool, you can make an easy
striping pattern on your sweater. You will be amazed at
how quickly this top down yoke sweater can be made!
Whether this is your first sweater or you are an old
pro, this sweater is sure to become a favorite in your
wardrobe. Pattern is free with class. Please bring
supplies listed on the pattern.

Vic's Classes
Fair Isle 101 - Six 1 1/2-hour Sessions:
Learn the artistic, inventive, and beautiful craft of Fair Isle
knitting. You will use a pattern created by Vic England. This
child or bear-sized sweater will be completed by the last class
so you can learn everything you need to know to make an
adult-sized sweater (i.e., design and finishing). Techniques
taught include: Two-handed knitting, adding/changing colors,
knitting increases in pattern, Fair Isle pattern reading,
ripping out stitches in Fair Isle knitting, steeks, and Fair
Isle finishing. Knitting experience is a requirement for this
class. Basic knitting skills will not be covered.
Beginning Socks - Three 1 1/2 -
hour Sessions:
Learn the basics of sock knitting by creating a small practice
sock using worsted weight yarn, US size 6 double point needles,
and pattern provided free of charge. Optionally,
knit a basic ribbed sock using fingering weight sock yarn, size
2.25 mm double pointed needles and Knits by Vic, Inc -
Basic Rib Sock pattern ($5 charge).
Techniques taught: Knitting socks with double-pointed
needles. Additionally, knitting socks with 2-circular
needles and 1-circular needle with be demonstrated.
Materials needed: Any worsted weight yarn (preferably
a light, solid color) purchased from Woolen Treasures, US size 6
- 4/5 double-point needles, and pattern provided free of charge
at the first class.
Optional Materials: 100g of any fingering weight
sock yarn, 2.25 mm 4/5 double-pointed needles, and Knits by
Vic, Inc - Basic Rib Sock pattern purchased at Woolen
Treasures.
Homework:
For the first class, please make a gauge swatch using a minimum
of 20 sts using the required needles (worsted weight = US 6
needles or fingering weight sock yarn = 2.25 mm needles) for at
least 3.
Wendy's Classes

Beginning lace-knitting -
3 sessions of 1½ hours each
This lovely lace pattern can be made in
lace weight yarn for an airy, ethereal scarf or in fingering
weight (sock weight) yarn for a more substantial, warmer scarf.
The pattern is beautiful, but also simple to memorize, so it
goes pretty quickly. The airier lace weight scarf is just a bit
more challenging than the fingering weight one, but both are
intermediate level knitting.
Materials: lace weight or fingering weight yarn, approx.
400-450 yds; needles (straight or circular) US size 7 or 8 (or
whatever you need to get gauge); stitch markers (I use small
locking-type); 10 yds. of smooth, thin yarn for a provisional
cast on; small crochet hook (size H or so) for provisional
cast-on, Fiber Trends Pattern.
Prerequisites: Must be comfortable knitting and purling.
Socks 101 - Basic Socks on 4 or 5 Needles
-
Three 1½-hour Sessions:
Learn a method of making your own socks using double-pointed
needles. Pattern and instructions provided. You'll learn short
row shaping, picking up stitches, and Kitchener stitch.
Prerequisites: Must be able to work long tail or knitted
(cable) cast on, knit, purl, k2tog, ssk, slip stitch. Please
work a 4"x4" gauge swatch with your chosen yarn and needles. We
can do this in class if you don't understand, but you'll have
more time to work on your socks if we don't have to take the
time.

Entrelac Purse - Two 1 1/2 hour
Sessions: This fun purse in two sizes is a great way to
learn entrelac knitting. (See sample in shop) You'll learn
how to do the Entrelac technique and brush up on knitting and
crochet stitches, if necessary. Please ask us about needle
sizes and yardage for your preferred size.
Prerequisites: Students must be able to cast on,
knit, purl and crochet basics.
Socks 202

Three 1½-hour Sessions:
If you've already made a pair of socks on double-pointed needles
and want to learn more, take this class. These socks have little
cables down the back extending into the heel.
Prerequisites: Must have made at least one pair of socks,
preferably with heel flap and gusset,
and be able to handle dpns. Please work a gauge swatch before
class starts so you know what size
needles to use as we won't have time during class to figure
gauge.

Felted Clogs -
Three 1½-hour Sessions:
Back by popular demand, these advanced beginner level
slippers are knitted in class, then felted at home in your
washing machine. You'll learn how to increase and decrease.
Prerequisites: This class requires that students be able
to cast on, knit, and purl.

Mittens

Three 1 1/2 hour Sessions:
Here's your chance to learn to make basic mittens. What a
wonderful Christmas gift this will make. You'll learn how
to knit in the round and increase and decrease using double
pointed needles.
Prerequisites: Beginning Knitting (cast on, bind off,
knit & purl)

Classes

2 Socks from the Toe Up Using 1 Circular Needle - Two 1 1/2-hour
Sessions:
Have
you ever made one sock using double-pointed needles? The needle
kept falling out, and when you were done, you STILL had to make
the second sock? With this class, you will learn how to make
both socks at the same time so when you're done with one, you're
done with both. And, with one circular needle, it never falls
out! Previous sock experience is required for this class.
Students must be able to knit, purl, increase, decrease, and do
long-tail cast-on.
Materials needed: Pattern provided by Lisa Kent; 100 gms of
sock weight yarn from Woolen Treasures; 32" or 40" long circular
needle in US size 1 or 2 (whichever to obtain gauge); 4 small
stitch holders (safety pin type works well); Needle for weaving
in ends; Make a swatch to establish gauge before class: 7
stitches/inch in stockinette stitch (K on RS, P on WS)
Learn to Knit
Continental-Style
- One 1-1/2 hour session:
Do you "throw" the yarn with your right hand? Have you
seen others carry the yarn in their left hand? Have you
always wanted to learn how to knit that way? Now you can.
Some advantages to Continental Knitting: knit faster, knit
two colors at the same time, less stress on your hands due to
smaller movements. Learn to knit, purl and knit two colors
in the same row Continental-Style.
Materials needed: 2 balls of different-color, same
weight yarn; one set of appropriate-sized needles.
Prerequisite: Must already know how to knit.
Claudette's Classes
Felted Bags - Three 1-1/2
hour Sessions:
Felted bags and purses are fabulously popular, and with
good reason. They are fun to make and forgiving,
so they are a perfect place to learn new skills, like
working with circular needles, increasing, decreasing
and making color changes. In this class you pick
the pattern and the yarn and we work together to build a
really great bag.
Materials:
All available at Woolen Treasures.
Pattern of your choice and feltable wool and needles as
described in your pattern. The staff at
Woolen Treasures will be happy to help you choose.
Reversible Cables:
Learn to knit cool reversible cables in this one-hour
workshop. Use the pattern to make a fabulous spring
scarf. Choose any yarn and appropriate needles plus a
cable needle. Handpaint makes a beautiful scarf.
Double Pointed Needles:
Intimidated by double pointed needles? Join us to learn
how to use them. Well cast on for either wristers or
fingerless mitts, youll get the hang of working on 3 or
4 needles and finish the projects on your own.
Felted Bowl:
Love to felt? Want to learn? Sign up for this quick
project and whip up a fun felted bowl. You will be
working on double pointed needles. This project is a
great way to learn how to use them.

Classes
Beaded Bolero Jacket - Three
1-1/2 hour Sessions:
Come and learn to do a beautiful garment with beads and learn
the tricks of the trade from Ann. Ann is a designer for
Brown Sheep Yarn Company and is gracious enough to guide you
through her incredible jacket with ease and wit. You will
learn to add beads, pickup stitches, wrap and turn and much more
with this lovely funny lady.
Materials needed:
Brown Sheep pattern, Prairie Silk or Lamb's Pride yarn, Beads,
Size 8 needles (or size to obtain gauge), crochet hook, markers
and scrap yarn.
Go Everywhere Beaded Shell
- Two 1-1/2 hour Sessions:
Be prepared for our Hot Summers with this elegant looking beaded
shell. Ann will guide you through the process of knitting
with beads and shaping of the armholes and neck. Stitches
you will use are knit, purl, SSK, & SSP.

Seed Stitch Vest -
Beginner - Three 1-1/2 hour Sessions:
A wonderful beginner vest that will
work with purl and knit stitches to create a first sweater piece
without the worry of putting in sleeves. Ann has been

Modular Knitted Spring/Summer Top - Three 2 hour Sessions:
Join Patti for her fun modular "Heartbeat
Sweater" and have a great top ready to wear for this Spring and

learn the modular technique, three-needle bind off and guidance through charts/pattern
to achieve a classic top. These patterns are wonderful to
knit up in any of our yarns and there is a big range of sizes.

Entrelac Stole
- Two 3 hour Sessions:
Learn the entrelac method of knitting
by making the Lady Elenor from Scarf Style by Pam
Allen. You will learn to knit backwards,
sometimes called "reverse knitting." The front of
your work will always face you. Entrelac is a
combination of triangles and slanted rectangles that
give a unique look to your knitted project. You will
need the yarn of your choice with appropriately
sized needles, circular are the best suited. Bring
markers, and notions.
Kara's Classes
Cast on/Bind Off Class
- Two 1 hour Sessions:
Did you know that there are some
cast ons that are better for socks and others are better for
buttonholes? Come and learn some new cast on techniques and
some different styles of bind off. We will also learn about
the appropriate uses for these new techniques.
Pattern
Reading Basics
- Two 1 hour Sessions:
Does K2tog and ptbl have you stumped? This class will help
you decipher knitting shorthand. We will review a variety
of patterns and practice making a few swatches while
following a written pattern and a charted pattern.
Materials Required: Worsted Weight Yarn (light color
wool), cable needle, and appropriate knitting needle (size 7
or 8).
Claire's Class
Beginning Crochet - Two
1-1/2 hour Sessions:
Did you ever want to learn your basic crochet stitches?
Well Claire will step you through a washcloth that will
teach you how to chain, single, double and triple crochet.
